1. What is the timeline for an application?*

From start to finish, applications can take up to 5 months to be seen by the board, with a longer time for applications received over break periods. Some applications may take longer depending on requests for more information.

Current: FMB meetings will resume in January. Any requests submitted for The Shirt Charity Funding received after 11/28/23 will not be reviewed until Spring Semester 2024.

 

*As an undergraduate student organization and branch of the undergraduate student government, FMB meets every other week during the academic year starting around Labor Day and ending in mid-April.  Any decisions made regarding funding will only occur during that time period.  This includes, but not limited to, allocating the undergraduate student activity fee, approving expenses over $5,000, monitoring the student organizations for misuse of their funds and reviewing applications for The Shirt Charity Fund. 

 
During the academic year, it may take two or three months for FMB to review The Shirt Charity Fund applications. During the times when FMB is not meeting (such as the summer months), it may take four to six months from the time the application was received for it to be reviewed.  Their meetings for this academic year began after Labor Day, their meeting agendas included action items described above. 
 

2. Is the Shirt Charity Fund part of financial aid?

No, the Shirt Charity Fund is part of the Student Union funds. The Shirt Charity Fund receives no funding from the University and is funded through sales of "The Shirt."  Half of the proceeds from The Shirt go to The Shirt Charity Fund, which helps students afford unexpected and extraordinary medical expenses.  We encourage all students to buy The Shirt to raise money for the Charity Fund.

3. Am I eligible for funds?

The main requirements for the Shirt Charity fund are financial need and extraordinary nature of the situation, injury or procedure.

4. Does the Shirt Charity fund guarantee payment?

No, only applications approved by the board are paid. It's important to know that FMB will only consider an application for reimbursement after the expenses related to the medical incident have occurred.

5. Who is this "board?"
